APRIL IS SEXUAL ASSAULT PREVENTION MONTH

Awareness to Action

IU Indy is dedicated to supporting, honoring, and standing in solidarity with survivors of sexual assault. Our theme for Sexual Assault Prevention Month is that Action is Key.

Sexual Assault Prevention Month challenges us to not only recognize sexual violence and its impact on survivors, but to develop tools that can help us cultivate meaningful change. By demonstrating consent, supporting survivors, and practicing bystander intervention, we transform simple awareness into action: the key to building a safer,
more respectful community.

Learn how you can get involved by attending events like the Clothesline Project and Take Back the Night throughout the month.

Tips for supporting friends

If you’re unsure how to support someone who has experienced harm, start by:

  1. Believing them and listening. Silence is okay.
  2. Offering to connect them with on-campus resources.
  3. Thanking them for sharing with you.
