APRIL IS SEXUAL ASSAULT PREVENTION MONTH

Preventing identity-based violence starts with us

IU Indy is dedicated to supporting, honoring, and standing in solidarity with survivors of sexual assault. Our theme for Sexual Assualt Prevention Month leans into identity-based violence and addressing the root causes of violence.

We recognize that sexual violence impacts marginalized populations at higher rates. Our work focuses on prevention, survivor support, and social change that uplifts marginalized populations.

Learn how you can get involved by attending events like the Clothesline Project and Take Back the Night throughout the month.

Tips for supporting friends

If you’re unsure how to support someone who has experienced harm, start by:

  1. Believing them and listening. Silence is okay.
  2. Offering to connect them with on-campus resources.
  3. Thanking them for sharing with you.
