Community policies and resources

Peer accountability and self-governance are important for personal development and community success. Members of fraternities and sororities have certain privileges and must also adhere to various rules and policies. Failing to meet expectations or follow the rules can result in losing these privileges.

At IU Indianapolis, all members of Fraternity and Sorority Life are expected to review, understand, and follow the Indiana University  Code of Student Rights, Responsibilities, and Conduct, all Fraternity and Sorority Life community policies, governing council bylaws, and the student organization policies. Most of these resources can be found on The Spot, and additional policies are linked below.

Educational programs

Providing educational opportunities is important for promoting a healthy and inclusive environment within our sorority and fraternity community. Our staff is dedicated to creating programs that focus on leadership development and promoting positive behavior. We make sure that all educational initiatives align with our standards of excellence and help our members achieve core membership outcomes.

Hosted twice a year in the fall and spring, the purpose is to provide community building and professional and personal skill development for our Fraternity and Sorority Life leaders to use throughout their collegiate experience.

Hosted twice a year in the fall and spring, this program provides an orientation for neophytes of the Multicultural Greek Council (MCGC) and the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) to Fraternity and Sorority Life, preventative workshops, developmental workshops, and the opportunity to build cross-council relationships.

Hosted twice a year in the fall and spring, New Member Academy provides an orientation for new members of the Interfraternity Council and College Panhellenic Council to Fraternity and Sorority Life. It also provides preventive programs focused on physical and mental health and well-being through conversations and presentations with Health and Wellness Promotion, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), and the Indiana University Police Department (IUPD).

A reestablished program that will be launched in fall 2024, this is a leadership and life skills development program to address the developmental gap of our student leaders. Topics range from socializing, professional development, prevention, and everyday life skills. There will be four dates offered in which 20% of your chapter must attend.

A reestablished initiative to create a space for cross-council collaboration and community building amongst the four governing councils. This program will launch in fall 2024.
