HIV PrEP

What is PrEP?

PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) is a once daily pill or long-acting shot for people at higher risk of HIV infection. It can lower your chances of getting HIV by up to 99%. Just remember, PrEP only shields you from HIV, not other STIs like gonorrhea or chlamydia.

Who should use PrEP?

You should use PrEP:

  • If you have sex with someone whose HIV status you don’t know, and you don’t always use condoms.
  • If you are in a sexual relationship with a person living with HIV.
  • If you share needles to inject drugs.
