Like many other freshmen stepping onto campus for the first time, I was so intimidated at the thought of finding my people. I had no clue on where to start, and the thought of joining a sorority had not yet crossed my mind. Once I learned about the Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) community on campus, I was quickly encouraged to go through recruitment, and it was the best decision I could have made.
Going into the recruitment process, my initial goal was to make friends. While this became a reality, I stayed in my sorority for many other reasons. I stayed because of the friendships and experiences I gained, the leadership lessons I learned, the philanthropy dollars we raised and the support I will forever have from my fellow sisters.
Being in the FSL community offers more than most people think. Since I first joined Phi Mu, I have spent numerous hours participating in philanthropy events and raising money for many different causes. Not only have these events given me an opportunity to support great causes, like Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, but it has also given me many incredible memories with my sisters.
