In August 2022, it was announced that Indiana University and Purdue University would become two separate institutions in Indianapolis beginning July 1, 2024. To ensure students remain supported, campus leaders from both universities have worked together to outline how Purdue University students in Indianapolis will be able to access academic support, campus life and health and well-being resources from both Indiana University Indianapolis and Purdue University in Indianapolis.
Health and well-being resources
- Purdue students can purchase a membership to IU Indy Campus Recreation and receive all the benefits that come with it, such as access to NIFS, intramural sports, group fitness classes, utilizing the fitness facility in the Campus Center, and more. Memberships are $50 per semester and must be purchased each semester. Specific purchasing instructions will be made available soon.
- Purdue students can access medical services at IU Indianapolis Campus Health. Students can walk into the clinic in Lockefield Village (980 Indiana Ave., first floor) or call to make an appointment.
- Purdue students can utilize IU Indy's campus safety services and call the IU Police Department should they need help or have an emergency. The IUPD emergency line is 317-274-7911.
- Purdue students can access the IU Indianapolis Paws’ Pantry. Appointments to visit the pantry can be made online.
- For mental health services, Purdue students can call 765-494-6995 to initiate services from Purdue Counseling and Psychological Services.
- For additional support and well-being services, students can visit the Purdue Steps to Leaps website. They can also email studentlifeindy@purdue.edu or walk into the office located on the third floor of the Engineering and Technology building. The office is open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
- For advocacy and support services, Purdue students can visit the Purdue Dean of Students website or connect with the Purdue in Indianapolis Student Life team.
Campus life
- Purdue students will be eligible to join IU Indianapolis self-governed student organizations (SGSOs) as members. Purdue students can start or join Purdue student organizations and can connect with Purdue Student Life staff to learn more. Students can also view Boilerlink to search Purdue-managed student organizations that will be available in Indianapolis.
- IU Indianapolis’s Multicultural Center, LGBTQ+ Center and Diversity Enrichment and Achievement Program will remain available for Purdue students.
- Purdue students can access IU Indianapolis's Office for Veterans and Military Personnel located in Campus Center suite 268.
- Purdue students can purchase a meal plan with IU Indianapolis, whether they are living in North Hall, the Lux, or an off-campus location.
- Purdue students can purchase their parking pass through IU Indy's Parking and Transportation Services office by clicking on the “Student Permits” drop-down menu and following the instructions.
- Purdue in Indianapolis students will continue using an IU CrimsonCard for accessing the Library, printing, meal plans, Campus Recreation, and other services on campus.
- Purdue students will be eligible to attend some events and activities on campus, but some events, like career and job fairs or wellness events, will be offered separately. Students should look for signage and connect with the Purdue in Indianapolis Student Life team for their specific events and activities.
Academic support
- Purdue students will have access to Purdue’s Academic Success Center. Students can receive study skill consultations, peer success coaching and peer-led tutoring by visiting ET 314.
- Purdue students will have access to IU Indianapolis’s Mathematics Assistance Center (MAC).
- The Purdue On-Campus Writing Lab will be open to Purdue students in the ET building and accessible online.
- Purdue students needing testing services can utilize the IU Indianapolis Testing Center.
- Purdue students have access to a variety of Purdue's teaching and learning programs to support their success, including utilizing University Library at IU Indianapolis.
- The Purdue Disability Resource Center is located in ET 331 to facilitate equal access for students who need an accommodation.
