As he prepares to graduate this December with a degree in data science, M V S Anirudh Maganti reflects on how his role as a building manager at the IU Indianapolis Campus Center has shaped his future.
Skills for success
During his time as a building manager, Anirudh has gained leadership and operational management experience that has prepared him for the demands of his chosen career. From coordinating event setups to managing security protocols, he has taken on a wide range of responsibilities that have strengthened his ability to oversee complex projects and maintain efficiency.
Among the top skills he has developed are effective communication, crisis management, and strategic planning.
"These skills are pivotal in any fast-paced, solution-oriented career," he said.
Anirudh’s journey began as an operations assistant, where he was inspired by the leadership and impact of the building managers he worked alongside.
"I aspired to one day become a building manager to further develop my leadership skills and play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of a key campus facility," he explained.
Through his time as a building manager, Anirudh has not only contributed to the success of the Campus Center but also set himself up for success in the next chapter of his journey.
"I plan to leverage my experiences and skills in a full-time role that allows me to further develop my capabilities in data analytics and operational efficiency," Anirudh said.
Lessons in leadership
Looking back on his IU Indianapolis experience, Anirudh highlights the people he has worked with as his favorite aspect.
"Collaborating with such a diverse group has enriched my understanding of community and teamwork," he reflects. He chose IU Indianapolis for its vibrant campus life, strong academic programs, and the professional development opportunities provided by its urban location.
He encourages other students to consider the role, emphasizing its value for developing real-world skills.
"This role is perfect for students who want to develop real-world skills in management and problem-solving while contributing significantly to campus life," he said. "It offers a unique opportunity to lead a team, manage resources, and interact with a variety of people."
