Student Affairs increases student connections this fall

Student Affairs' mission is to intentionally build an engaged, inclusive and healthy campus community through hands-on learning experiences and holistic student support.

Through our events, involvement opportunities and services, IU Indianapolis students should gain new skills and feel prepared for whatever is next.

This fall semester marked historic milestones for our campus community and our division.

Student involvement and activities

  • 43 student organizations completed the new student organization process and became registered student organizations. This is a 6% increase from last fall.
  • 1,991 student organization events were approved in The Spot, which is a 13.5% increase from last fall.
  • Regatta had 150 volunteers and 125 teams comprised of over 500 racers at the event. The student-led steering committee received support from 27 sponsors from external and internal partners.
  • Student Activities Programming Board saw over 3,100 students at their events this fall. First Night, the event that kicks off Weeks of Welcome programming, saw a 49% increase in attendance.
  • Jagathon's Day of Miracles event, a 26-hour online fundraising marathon, raised$19,661.26 for Riley Hospital for Children.
  • Nearly 4,000 unique students attended Weeks of Welcome this fall, with a total event attendance of nearly 12,000.
  • Campus Recreation hosted over 250 intramural sports games and matches this fall for over 1,000 participants.
  • Housing and Residence Life opened at 101% occupancy this fall, with overflow housing in University Tower and Ball Hall.
    • Housing staff have had more than 7,600 total touchpoints with students this fall, a 6% increase from last fall.

Health and wellness

  • Counseling and Psychological Services implemented drop-in initial consultation appointments to reduce barriers and provided over 1,600 clinical appointments for students this fall.
    • In post-session surveys, 99% of students agreed that they felt heard, understood, and accepted by their provider.
  • Health and Wellness Promotion hosted the second annual Jaguar 5K, which was sponsored by the IU Indianapolis Bookstore. The event had 363 registered participants for the run/walk and raised $10,097.20 for addiction recovery scholarships.
  • Health and Wellness Promotion launched the 7 Elements of Wellness Quiz, an online personal wellness inventory mapped to the Campus Wellness Framework, which has been taken 4,433 times.
  • Campus Health hosted nine flu clinics this fall semester, administering more than 1,000 flu vaccines. More than 60 students from the School of Nursing helped administer vaccines at these clinics.
  • The Behavioral Consultation Team (BCT) transitioned to be the Care Team, and two care coordinators were hired to oversee the daily operations. This team also created a new care and support form to streamline processes and outreach.
