Marketing Day 2024

Marketing Day is a professional development day dedicated to sharing best practices in marketing and communications. The Oct. 30 event is sponsored by the Divisions of Student Affairs and Undergraduate Education.

All Oct. 30 Marketing Day sessions will be held in the Campus Center. 

Registration is limited for some sessions, and we'll disable the form once we reach those capacities. Please register by Tuesday, Oct. 22 at 5 p.m. We look forward to seeing you there!

Who should attend

Any faculty, staff, or student staff member in the Division of Enrollment Management, Division of Student Affairs, or Division of Undergraduate Education can attend Marketing Day. Whether you're managing a social media account or are looking for new ways to promote your programs and services, you can benefit from the sessions.

Sessions

  • 8:30–9 a.m. – Check-in and Chat (CE 031)
    • Check in for the day, enjoy some coffee and donuts, and mingle with your colleages.
  • 9–9:50 a.m. – Welcoming Remarks and Student Panel (CE 031)
    • Hear current students' perspectives on a variety of marketing and communications topics.
  • 10–10:50 a.m. – Breakout Session 1
    • Option A: All Aboard the Adobe Express (CE 305)
      • Learn about how to leverage Adobe Express at IU for creating your own marketing materials. Presented by Adair Allen and Nathan Mugg.
    • Option B: MarComm Playbook: Crafting a Winning Plan (CE 307)
      • Learn tips and tricks for building a marketing and communication plan to reach your target audience and achieve your goals. Plus, see how your marketing and communications office can help. Presented by Kristin Jones and Mary Knarr.
  • 11–11:50 p.m. – Breakout Session 2
    • Option A: Social Content that Slays (CE 305)
      • Learn how to use your smart phone to capture compelling photos and videos for social media. Plus, get tips on how to design graphics specifically for social platforms. Presented by Lexa Muehlbauer with special guest Adair Allen.
    • Option B: Telling Your Story (CE 307)
      • Telling stories can be a compelling way to highlight the impact your unit makes. But what angle do you take? Where do you start? How do you hook the attention of readers? In this interactive workshop, you'll learn ways to get started on developing and sharing your stories. Presented by Allie Wigginton.
  • 12–1:15 p.m. – Roundtable Lunch (CE 031)
    • Lunch will be provided, and we'll have prompts on each table to guide discussions.

DoSA-only sessions

  • 1:45–2:30 p.m. – Marketing Cloud Part 1 (Student Affairs only) (CE 305)
    • Get a preview of how to use Salesforce Marketing Cloud for sending emails.
  • 2:45–3:30 p.m. – Marketing Cloud Part 2 (Student Affairs only) (CE 305)
    • For staff currently using the tool, this session will allow us to regroup on best practices and division expectations. Staff who are not using Marketing Cloud are still welcome to attend to learn more.
