Welcome to IU Indianapolis’s 9th Annual Family Weekend and 16th Annual Regatta! We are excited your family chose to join us. Explore campus together and let your student take the lead in showing you what life is like at IU Indianapolis. This year, we’re offering a mix of free activities and ones that require registration so you’re free to pick and choose based on interest.

Need a parking pass for the weekend? Sign up to receive a pass to use at the Vermont Street Garage.

Friday, September 27

Friends & Family BBQ
Hosted by 21st Century Scholars
Pre-registration required 
5–7 p.m. • Taylor Courtyard

Come enjoy delicious food, lively music, and great company. Celebrate the achievements of our scholars and connect with othe friends and families. 

 

IU Indy's Women Volleyball Game 
Starts at 6 p.m. • The Jungle 

Cheer on our Lady Jags as they take on Wright State. Students get in free with their CrimsonCard. Parents and families can buy tickets at the door ($5 for adults and $2 for youth). 

 

S'mores and Oars (FREE)
7–10 p.m. • Campus Recreation Outdoor Facility (CROF)

Stop by for a night of s’mores, painting oars, fun, music, and an outdoor movie! Join in on the fun as Housing and Residence Life and Student and Family Connections host this student-favorite event, which wraps up Regatta Week before race day.

 

Saturday, September 28

Regatta Family Meet and Greet
Pre-registration required 
Spots are limited ($10 per person) 
9–10:30 a.m. • Military Park (tent at the corner of N. Blackford Street and W. New York Street)

Enjoy a catered breakfast while mingling with other IU Indianapolis families. Then take part in the Regatta festivities!

 

IU Indianapolis Regatta (FREE)
10 a.m.–4 p.m. • Military Park and Indianapolis canal

This is not just a day of canoe races, but an IU Indianapolis tradition filled with entertainment for everyone! The event will have all of Regatta’s most-loved activities which includes festival rides, family-friendly games, the dog costume contest, and performances by IU Indianapolis’s renowned student bands.

Missed the Friday game? This is your chance to cheer on our Lady Jags as they take on Wright State. Students get in free with their CrimsonCard. Parents and families can buy tickets at the door ($5 for adults and $2 for youth). 

 

Indy Eleven vs. Miami FC
Pre-registration required
Spots are limited ($6 per person)
6–7 p.m. • Best One Fun Zone | Game begins at 7 p.m. • Carroll Stadium

Come cheer on Indianapolis’ pro soccer team, Indy Eleven, as they face the Miami FC and celebrate Hispanic Heritage Night.

 

Sunday, September 29

Family Breakfast
Pre-registration required
$10 per person. Students with a meal plan and access to Tower Dining do not need a ticket.
9–11 a.m. • Tower Dining

Grab breakfast with your student while recapping the weekend’s events. Take home a memory with our family photo booth.

Student Affairs Family Weekend Facebook Contest (on your own) 
Share your experiences on campus with us!

Three steps to enter:

  1. Like the Student Affairs Facebook page.
  2. Like the Family Weekend post that will be pinned to the top of the page on Friday, Sept. 27.

  3. Post a photo from Family Weekend in the comments.

One random contest participant will be chosen on Monday, Sept. 30 to win a grand prize! The winner will be tagged in the Facebook contest post with details on how to collect the prize.

ALL familieswhether you’re attending Family Weekend or not are invited to participate! Photo entries of you and your Jaguar on campus (orientation, move-in, etc.) will also be accepted.

 

Family Walking Tour
Friday–Sunday  Self-guided

Stroll with your family around the IU Indianapolis campus and Indianapolis community to see academic buildings, recreational facilities, White River State Park, the downtown canal, and much more!

Healthy IU paths
To find the paths, access the IU Indianapolis campus map. From there, scroll under “Locations” and click “Healthy IU Walking Paths” to view the indoor and outdoor walking trails in the area.
